Injury Update: Jurgen Klopp provides the latest on injured Liverpool duo Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott

Speaking to the club’s official site following the 2-1 win over Leicester City at Anfield, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spilled the beans on injured stars Harvey Elliott and Andy Robertson.

The Reds were given a difficult time by former boss Brendan Rodger’s side and even conceded early on. Wayward finishing and poor execution in the final third largely hampered Liverpool’s fightback but a brace of own goals by Wout Faes saw the Reds end up with all three points.

The victory makes it four wins in a row in the Premier League for the first time this season as Jurgen Klopp and co close the gap to the top four. It is not all good news as Robertson and Elliott both picked up knocks.

Klopp revealed that both players were involved in an incident in the warm up that saw Robertson come out worse off. The Scottish ace suffered a dead leg but still started the game.

“Harvey, before the game, injured Robbo a little bit. In our warm-up game, he hit him with a knee at the hip, so it was a dead leg.”

The left-back played 62 minutes before being taken off for Kostas Tsimikas. Fans will hope that it is nothing serious. The 28-year-old was getting back to his best and it will be a shame if an injury sets him back now.

Elliott injured his ankle and struggled for a bit on the field before being taken off for Stefan Bajcetic in the 86th minute. The youngster was given a beating all game and it remains to be seen just how bad the extent of his injury is.

“Harvey got a knock, which was quite painful, but when you see the situation because it is clear that’s painful, but that’s it, I think.”

While Klopp admitted that Elliott’s injury was certainly painful, it did not appear to be serious. Hopefully it is just that and he will return to action sooner than later.
