“I don’t think”- 22-year-old Tottenham star sends warning to Liverpool before PL clash

Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven fires a warning to Liverpool ahead of the Premier League clash on Sunday

Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven has issued a clear warning to Liverpool following a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the North London Derby. The Dutch defender delivered an outstanding performance against the Gunners and has been a reliable presence in Ange Postecoglou’s team since joining in the summer.

Van de Ven, who arrived from Wolfsburg in a £43 million deal, has proven to be a savvy addition to their defence. He has forged a strong partnership with Cristian Romero, resulting in two clean sheets and seven goals conceded in six Premier League outings.

However, the Dutchman now faces another strong test against Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying team at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday. Following the match against Arsenal, the 22-year-old has admitted that the Spurs are approaching their upcoming match with a fearless mindset.

As quoted by the Mirror, Van de Ven stated:

“I don’t think we have fear for another team. It would be strange if you have fear for another team. If you go into a game and are like ‘what a team they have’ then I don’t think it is positive.”

Tottenham are currently trailing Liverpool by two points in the standings, with both teams maintaining unbeaten records in their first six matches of the season. Van de Ven has been a constant presence on the field, playing every minute of the season in all competitions for the Lilywhites.

The Dutch defender was a target for the Reds by sporting director Jorg Schmadtke during the summer transfer window, but no agreement was ever close to being reached.

Since his move from the Bundesliga to England, he has been enjoying his time as a guaranteed starter at Tottenham. Alongside Romero, he will face a challenging test when they go up against in-form players like Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz.

Liverpool are not a team to consider these warnings lightly. Klopp’s side has been a menace to opposition defenders, even after conceding goals early.

Postecoglou’s side should be wary of their opposition’s strengths and the fact that Sunday’s game would be a tough one to crack. Our recent record against Spurs shows there is only one favourite in this clash; the Reds have lost just once to Spurs since November 2022.
