Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius pens open letter to fans after terminating Besiktas contract

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has written an open letter to fans after terminating his loan contract with Turkish giants Besiktas. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

The German shot-stopper had been involved in a dispute with the Turkish outfit over unpaid wages for quite some time now. In fact, Karius had made an official complaint

And now Karius announced with a post on social media, that he had indeed terminated his contract with Besiktas, claiming that he had lost his patience with the club’s handling of the wage non-payment issue. In an open letter to the fans, the German shot-stopper wrote (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“Hi everyone, today I terminated my contract with BESIKTAS. It’s a shame it comes to an end like this but you should know that I have tried everything to solve this situation without any problems.”

The Liverpool star then went on to thank the Besiktas supporters for having supported him through his ups and downs at the club, while he also expressed gratitude towards his teammates and coaches. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

Karius leaves Besiktas after having made 67 appearances since joining the club on loan in 2018. During this period, he managed to keep only 14 clean sheets with the club.

Karius has not featured for Liverpool since that disaster-class in the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid back in 2017/18. With Alisson Becker and Adrian in the squad, it seems unlikely that the German has a future at the club, now that he is set to return.
