Transfer News: European side in talks to loan Liverpool’s South American defender

Alaves in negotiations with Liverpool for Anderson Arroyo loan transfer

Alaves are in negotiations with Liverpool for the loan move of defender Anderson Arroyo, according to El Correo (Subscription Required) [h/t Liverpool Echo]. The Spanish club is said to be confident of getting their man.

A loan in Spain’s second division last season as well with CD Mirandes, the Colombian made 42 appearances for the Segunda side. Now Alaves look to bring him back in their bid for promotion to La Liga.

Having signed for the Reds back in 2018, Arroyo hasn’t featured for the Merseyside club as work permit issues have forced him to the sidelines.

Arroyo has been on Liverpool’s books since 2018.

The 22-year-old has been sent out on loan every season to different clubs in Spain, Belgium and the Czech Republic to have time on the pitch.

Arroyo is a versatile centre-back capable of playing in multiple positions. At 1.76m, he isn’t the tallest but makes up for it with his defensive abilities. The Colombian has shared a dressing room with Liverpool forward Luis Diaz with the national side’s youth team.

Currently, the Anfield club boast one of the best defences in the Premier League. Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip have established a solid partnership in front of Alisson. The Reds conceded just 26 goals

in the league last term and only nine at Anfield.

After an injury-hit 2020/21 season, our defenders have come back to full fitness and Jurgen Klopp’s side is back to its best. The addition of Ibrahima Konate has been a revelation as well for the Merseyside club.

Joe Gomez has signed a new contract recently and will add good depth to our defence. Keeping this in mind, Arroyo leaving isn’t a bad idea; gaining valuable experience playing regular first-team football.

More Liverpool New:

The Colombian has a long career ahead of him and fans will hope the defender can fulfil his potential in the coming future and be a part of Liverpool’s defensive line.
