Alisson Becker has been Liverpool’s wall since his move from AS Roma and has been a signing of revelation and instantaneously took us to a new level once he arrived.
Liverpool no.1 is known for his spectacular goalkeeping skills as well as for donning an immaculate moustache which serves up a look to behold for many watching.
While he is the undisputed No. 1 under manager Jurgen Klopp, he is also the first-choice goalkeeper for Brazil’s national team and while coming out of the tunnel for the first game against Serbia, fans spotted a different look as compared to what many are accustomed to.
Instead of a full-grown beard, Alisson was spotted with a clean moustache to mark off the first game in the prestigious tournament.
However, looking at the player’s Instagram (h/t Liverpool Echo), one could make out that the change of looks for the keeper had a message beneath. He posted a caption
“Speak up, people. I’m very proud to announce that my moustache is part of the #BigodeQueCuida, movement in support of the Blue November campaign! With great responsibility, I’d like to encourage all men to take a stand for their health by going to the doctor and getting regular preventive check-ups.
“Don’t waste time and also be part of this movement. Go to the profile @gillette_brasil and click on the filters tab to take a photo with your favourite mustache using #BigodeQueCuida. Remember: in November, every moustache is synonymous with attitude for health.”
Hence, the look served by Alisson is indeed there to promote a social message. The Blue November campaign is a campaign initiated to promote awareness of prostate cancer among people.
Alisson has a history of promoting campaigns that revolve around, notably collaborating with WHO during Covid-19 to spread the message of hygiene.
In terms of performances, there was not much change in the Brazilian performance who kept a clean sheet in Brazil’s dominating 2-0 win over Serbia in the opening game of the FIFA World Cup, establishing them as one of the favourites of the tournament.
Brazil’s win over Serbia showed the talent and skills that the team possesses and it is highly unlikely that they will face many difficulties in advancing to the next rounds, where much tougher tests await.
Alisson has shown that despite his stardom and standing in the game, he values the importance of promoting awareness amongst people and showing how one can use the platform available to the players to create a larger impact.
